Hi Everyone,

A customer ordered some Dinosaur cards from me and needed a t-rex one in addition to the samples I sent through... So here's my t-rex dinoroar card:

Seeing 2? Well that's because I had my clever stamper hat on and made one for my nephew who's turning 3 today!! I just changed the coloured layers around.

I also got to test out a new embossing folder "Stripes" and I like it!

Now this coming weekend is going to be special in 2 ways,
1) It's a long weekend here in WA
2) this is the most important - I'm celebrating being a Stampin' Up! Demo for 5yrs!! Yes that's right 5yrs!! So make sure you pop over to my facebook page and keep an eye on my blog as there will be a few things happening on each to celebrate!

Sunny Stamping Challenge - SC 029/12

Hi Everyone,

Today I joined in the Sunny Stamping Challenge, which you can find here.

It was a colour challenge this week and this is what I made....

The embossing folder is not a SU one and I noticed that the pattern doesn't go all the way to the fold line of the folder - something to keep in mind if you are ever buying a different brand.

Hi Everyone,

So today's mission whilst having a lazy day is to make better use of my pinterest account and upload some of my creations. Sounds easy enough doesn't it... However with a slightly foggy head because of a semi-head cold (yes, I'm not giving whatever bug I've got the credit of being a normal head cold as it's only in my sinuses and nose! very annoying and uncomfortable!), it was proving slightly more confusing than I'd expected.

Anyway, I've got a few things added, some that link properly back to my blog and some that don't... I'll be looking into those ones later....

Dinoroar Cards

Whilst I was at the Village at Wellard Markets earlier this month, I was asked about some boys birthday cards with dinosaurs. How happy was I to advise my customer that the Dinoroar Stamp Set was on it's way to me as we spoke from Stampin' Up!

Baby Cards

Hi Everyone,

Here's a couple of baby cards I've made using one of the stamps from the "Give a Gift" stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue.

And this one was made with the Stocking Punch... I've seen the stocking punch used as baby booties on lots of sites, so I can't and won't credit it as my own idea but at the same time, I can't narrow it down to the first place I saw it.

Customer Order

Lookie what I made! I've finally finished delivered a custom order bag for a demonstrator friend.

I've handstamped each of the white panels and straps and cut all the squares with my BigShot and the scalloped square die. It's big enough to fit just about everything in!

Lots of work, but it looked good when finished and I hope Kylie really likes it!

The Glades in January

Hi Everyone,

Well, we did it the first week of school has been and gone with no major incidents, tears or setbacks. I'm very proud of my 2 girls - Miss Pre-Primary and Miss 4yo Kindy. So that's my excuse for being pretty quiet on here over the last week or so, but with my new 5kid-free days a fortnight starting on Monday, I'm should have lots of crafting time - right?

And with the lack of crafting this week, I'm resorting to sharing a couple of pics of my new stall set-up at the Glades Markets last month.

Remember, it's on the 3rd Saturday of every month.

But in case you are looking for something to do this Sunday, I'll be at The Village Markets at Wellard with Jo from Pretty Little Things. You can find it on Twickenham Parade and The Strand, Wellard from 9-1pm. and there's going to be heaps for the whole family and even a car boot sale too!

And some of my other crafty friends like Eirian Body Products, Billie Be and Jen's Joys will be at the Serpentine Markets at Turner Cottage, Serpentine.

Tutorial #1 - Taking Photos for Your Blog or Facebook Page

Hi Everyone,

Something a little different for you today, I'm going to write up a few tutorials this year for different things and i thought I'd start with taking photos for your blog or facebook page.

This is one of my first photos uploaded to my blog way back in July 2007.

See I didn't even know how or think about turning my pics around the right way!

Ahhh how things have changed! These are some recent pics:

Ok so here's my Tips!!

Use natural light and turn off your camera flash! The flash often distorts the true colour of your cardstock, ribbon etc. However, you don't want direct sunlight on your subject either. I have worked out a spot near my front door (when open) provides the right amount of light without being "glarey" and I don't need to use the flash - it's set to 'forced off'.
I prefer a neutral background - my current favourite is 2 sheets of white card (just over A3 sized). I use one as a "dropsheet" and the other as the "background". Alternatively I pop outside and use nature - the flower photo above even has my garden fencing in the background BUT it doesn't distract from my card as it's a continual pattern.
Edit your photos - Sometimes you will have too much space around your photos. Editing your photo is a great way to remove that. I use a free to download program called Gimp, it's like photoshop but free
I also add a watermark which you can also see in the more recent pics above and the white border around the edge but that's going to be in a tutorial of it's own!

Kid's Holiday Class - January

Hi Everyone,

Last week I ran a very successful Kid's Holiday Class at the local Family Centre.

Here's what all the kids made:

They were able to choose a different colour as their stripe across the card and box, but the main parts were kept the same (mainly to make it easier for me to teach them all!)

A big "Thank you" to Simone & Irene for your help on the day and of course a really big "Well done" to all the kids ageing from 3-10years who took part - you guys did a fab job!!!

I have been running a Kid's class on each of the last 3 holiday periods and really enjoy teaching the kids! They are so eager to learn and yet aren't afraid to try something on their cards that they think will work. Results are interesting sometimes, but the sheer joy the kids show is so worth that crooked line or stamp!

If you have a crafty minded son or daughter, why not try one of my Kid's Classes or better yet, talk to me about arranging a class at your next child's birthday party!

Valentine's Day

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe January is going so fast?! It's officially 2 weeks today until my girls return to school.

Today I'm joining in a new challenge called "Festive Friday" by a South Australian Demo called Nicole Derendorf. The first challenge is to create a Valentine's Day card inspired by one of her design team.

My inspiration comes from Nicole herself and reminded me to use that rather neglected Heart to Heart Punch. I combined it with the new Give a Gift stamp and coloured with my markers.

Stampin' Up! Career Plan Changes

Kaisercraft and Me, together for the first time!

Hi Everyone,

I'm very excited to share this project with you... It's taken a couple of days to make in between the kids demands of school holidays and watching the first season of Burn Notice with hubby each night this week...

But I'm proud of myself for making this 3 drawer peg shelf from Kaisercraft and decorating it with Stampin' Up!'s Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper and some white paint.

And it's taking pride of place, I taken down our pin-up board/ whiteboard, moved our calendar and placed them both on the 1 wall together.

And I even drilled the holes and screwed the back plate to the wall all by myself! And it's straight (I think).

2012 - What's coming up??

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to 2012! I'm excited with what I have planned for the year, both with my little hobby and Stampin' Up! business and also at home.

These year will see Miss 5 start fulltime preprimary - it's going to be a big few weeks come February as she's always been so tired after 2 full days of school in 2011. However, I'm hoping that she (and I) adapt quickly as there's no going back now. Miss 3 will start at 4yo Kindy and do a 5 day fortnight, and again I hope she adapts well too. The start of the year for Miss 3 couldn't have worked out better, she has 1 one the first week, 2 days the 2nd week and has her first 3day week after that. All this equals to some extra kidfree time this year - my goals are to keep my house tidier and do some serious spring cleaning in the first term. It also means that I will be working on my projects during daylight hours and not into the wee hours of the morning so often. I know I won't say I never will stay up past midnight crafting again because I would never keep that deal!

So this means that I can do more to build up my hobby into more of a business. This year, I'm going to start a few new things including more classes and some tutorials. The tutorials will be on all sorts of things - cards, scrapbooking, 3D projects and there's even one about photography for your blog. My monthly classes will continue to be on the 2nd Friday night of every month. If there's enough people interested I'm happy to start a day time class as well. Classes are held at the Forest Lakes Family Centre, Thornlie, WA and the next one is the 13th February @ 7.30pm. And of course, I'm still available for Stampin' Up! workshops and can come to you for them.

I'm also going to continue having a stall at The Glades Art and Fresh Produce Markets in Byford, as well as a few other markets that are based south of the river. I love the interaction with people at the markets - and of course I get to catch up with my Glades Markets buddies!!

So that's some of what I will be up to in 2012, if there is anything you would like to learn, why not come to a class, host a workshop (and reap the rewards), or even join Stampin' Up! And of course you can always leave a comment or email me if you have a specific enquiry.

Today I'm sharing some pics from the Glades Markets from November and December and also a couple of pics from Craft Thyme.

Craft Thyme is great as it's indoors!! We loved being inside the main hall, last time (June) we were located in the large foyer area which was a bit chilly but it did mean people walked past our stall on their way in and out. This time, the excitement for the day was providing by an evacuation of the South Perth Community Centre - the smoke alarms had been set off!! eek! Luckily we were all allowed back in about 20mins later to continue our day.

It's very bright under the big top today!

Hi Everyone,

Last week I made these cards from the Under the Big Top Stamp Set and co-ordinating Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper.

Nice and bright aren't they! The colours are Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight (although I've used some So Saffron cardstock instead), Old Olive, and Whisper White.

Hi Everyone,

I've been a bit quiet lately haven't I? Well the main reason is a bit of a lack of mojo and also because I hurt my thumb whilst gardening a few weeks ago (bruised a nerve according to the Dr) and I've been trying to rest it in the hope of letting it mend itself. However, it taking longer than I'd hoped!!

Now you may have guessed by the pic above but there's an ESAD blog hop coming up next Thursday 1st Dec from 7pm WA time. I'd love for you to come back then and join the hop.... The finished size is approximately 26cm wide by 31cm high.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it's been quiet on the blogging side of things lately! I am still here and haven't run away :)

Last weekend I had a stall at the Baldivis Fair and on Sunday, a stall at the Bletchley Park Primary School Fete. So between that, the day to day running of a family and my class last night, I've been a bit busy!

Sunset, sunset

Hi Everyone,

Something a little different from me today, whilst cleaning up my crafting space yesterday, I found this card...

A sponged background with a sunset... then I've stamped the images from Pocket Silhouettes in Staz-on ink afterwards.

The sunset effect is achieved by punching a circle from a sticky note and putting it on your card. Then sponge your colours on, remove the sticky circle, add some more yellow (in this case I used "Summer Sun" which is a retired colour, but you could use "Daffodil Delight"), add a little more orange "Peach Parfait" & "Pumpkin Pie". Once you have your background, then you stamped your silhouette image. Clean crisp images work best!

Kid's Holiday Class

Over the school holidays I held another Kid's Class and this is what we made:

We used the "Under the Big Top" stamp set that was our gift at the Regionals training back in Sept - I love it and can't wait to make some more cards with this set!

As part of Miss 5's birthday celebrations, she had a party with some friends, these were the notepads included with the party bags, pirates for the boys, princesses for the girls, all to fit in with the theme of the day...

These were really well received by all the guests and I just had to make some extras for my stall - one mum was most impressed with her daughter's choice of a gift for herself and her brother on Sat night at the Glades Markets!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I was ~~playing~~ working in my craft room and I thought I'd try out some of the workshop wows I saw at Regionals.

So first off I tried some new punch art flowers.... And then I used it to decorate this photo frame:

Then I tried another flower and the 'bargello' technique for the quilted pattern in the background.

The sentiment is from the new hostess only set "Happiest Birthday Wishes"

Somewhere safe to keep your treasures....

Hi Everyone,

It's every girl's dream to have somewhere safe to keep her treasures... Actually it's probably most grown-up girls dreams too and to have lots of diamonds to keep in the said treasure box.....

I made these 'one of a kind' treasure boxes up with some retired designer series paper, and my Big Shot with the Timeless Type Alphabet, Beautiful Wings and Floral Fusion dies (the leaves have been punched with the bird punch).

The cool thing about these treasure boxes is that they open from the top and have 3 little sections plus a drawer underneath and are a really great size to keep either jewellery or stationery treasures tucked away.

Hi Everyone,

Over the weekend, we were lucky enough to finally catch up with many of our friends in 1 night.... I had 3 b'day presents to catch up on and thought I'd show you how I 'dressed up' 2 of the presents.

Firstly I made 2 notebooks (this is one of them):

Bought some goodies some Eirian Body Products and popped them into a gift box, added a cellophane bag and some ribbon and VOILA! A one of a kind gift!!

The goodies for this gift are from Delish Lights, I added some handmade flowers and some leaves made from the 5 petal flower, boho blossoms and bird punches, added some ribbon and VOILA another one of a kind gift!!

Both Eirian Body Products and Delish Lights are buddies of mine from The Glades Art & Product Markets - the next one is Oct 15th 4-9pm if you looking for something to do!

The punch art is inspired by Pat Carr, a wonderfully talented demo here in Perth and who doesn't have a blog but makes some truly wonderful punch art creatures!! She showed this puppy at the Stamp Camp I attended last year.

Here's my first card using the NEW In Colours Pool Party & Indigo Island with a touch of Whisper White. I've also used some Shimmer Paint, which is new to my craft stash although it did appear in the last IBC.

I have also been lucky enough to play with the new Pennants Die (thanks to my friend and downline Courtney!!) and I made this pennant banner for the Byford Spring Fair on Sunday. Now to work out where to hang it on the day lol :)

And part of the Pennant Die are these doilies that I have turned into a flower garden at the base of my new display stand.

Just need to add some leaves...

Somewhere in the last 3 weeks, I lost a week... Who knows where it went? I only know that all this week the dates I've been thinking in my head are not what the calendar says!

Anyhoo, it's gone and I guess its pretty safe to assume it's not coming back... ever..... what a bummer!

Last weekend I had a few of these chocolate sliders on my market stall and remembered to take a picture of 4 of them.. One has non-Stampin' Up! paper on it but don't tell anyone mmmk ;)
But all the cardstock is from Stampin' Up!

Backpacks for Aussie Kids

Last week I made this gift set for the Backpacks for Aussie Kids upcoming auction...

If you haven't heard of them, this is their blurb from their auction facebook page:

Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids is a Charity set up to make backpacks filled with essential items for kids that are moved into emergency foster care. The majority of these kids are taken from their homes with nothing, but the clothes on their backs. Often situations call for kids to be taken immediately and moved into foster care homes with no basics or anything they can call their own, not even a toothbrush. The aim of BP4AK is to give the children something that is solely theirs, which can go with them where ever they go. Just a small bag filled with belongings for children can let them know someone is thinking of them, offer a sense of a belonging and put a smile on their faces whilst their lives seem completely out of their control.

The Auction starts on 22nd August at 10am (SA Time) & last bid by 28th August 9pm (SA Time).

And the big surprise for me is using 2 colours I don't normally - Soft Suede and Sahara Sand!! I challenged myself to do use these 2 colours which are out of my bright and cheery colour comfort zone! I like the way they've turned out though :)

Extra details added by using my paper piercing tool and mat pack

Added background detail by stamping Soft Suede leaves randomly onto the Soft Suede Card

This clean and simple layout really shows off my 'homemade paper'.

Combining the Soft Suede stamping and inking my stamp with my markers

All the vanilla card with the Old Olive "Always in Bloom" pattern (ie all the vanilla card with the green ink) has been done on less than 1 A4 sheet of card - handy way to get just the right colour 'scrapbooking paper' for your next creation. A great tip is to have the ink cartridge in your wheel handle - it provides a continuous supply of ink onto your wheel!

Card stock: Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand
Stamps: Always, Always in Bloom Wheel, On your Birthday
Punches: Scallop Border, 1 1/4" circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Scallop Oval, Large Oval

Lost my mojo last week, here's the proof...

Hi Everyone,

Last week I came to the conclusion that my card making and crafting mojo had gone somewhere warm for the winter! See what I mean:

This card took me so long to do! I just didn't know where to go with it.... Ahh well, it happens....

Then late one night over the wkend, I was determined to create something with a bit of a wow factor..... And break into my brand new roll of "Chantilly Crochet Trim".... So out came a blank notebook and this is what I made just before midnight hit on Sat night....

A5 sized blank notebook - a bit bigger than most of the notebooks I decorate

Oh and the other reason for the lack of blogging apart from the lack of my mojo... last week we ran out of decent speed internet usage - we have discovered the cause though - the ipad updates chew up A LOT of our download allowance! How rude of this modern thing-a-me-bob!! :P

Greetings Galore Gift Set

Hi Everyone,

Happy Sunday to you all, I hope you've been having a good weekend. We're still fighting colds here, but thankfully have been able to get out of the house for a bit over the past couple of days, compared to the rest of the school holidays.

Today I thought I'd show a gift set I made for my mother in law as part of her b'day present...

Can I add in here how much I love my Big Shot!! Imagine how plain these cards would be without the embossed panel!! And I'll also add in an apology about the 'wonky' photos, I had to take them quickly this morning as we were about to head out the door, and it wasn't until I uploaded them here that I realised they are all taken at slightly different angles!!

Well I've actually got a quiet house here this arvo, both girls are asleep and hubby is watching the footy... I'm off to disappear into my craft room - hopefully to get some things done to share with you this week and before anyone interrupts me.

Hi Everyone,

Have you spotted the wheel storage in the Idea Book and Catalogue? I love them! I've got 2 for the standard wheels and 2 for the jumbo wheels.

You can fit 10 standard wheels in each standard container and 6 jumbo wheels in the jumbo! No more roll away wheels!!

Well, I'm been leaving a few teasers on my facebook page about the fabric I've been cutting out with my scalloped square and Big Shot! It makes cutting the same sized shape very very easy!!

Here's a sample of what I've been making:

The bags had lots of comments on the weekend at The Glades Art and Produce Markets! The desktop caddy (which you can see fits Stampin' Up! inkpads) has been donated to the Pretty Little Things Charity Auction, and you can see all the details for that here.

I've got some more to show you, but that will have to wait for another day... It's self-inflicted school holiday cleaning frenzy here today so I'd better get back to it!

Last week was my first ever kids class!! And it was so much fun!!

This is my version of what the kids got to make...

They were able to choose what colours they used and the sentiment... Silly me didn't think to take some pics but never mind, the kids did a fabulous job and I hope to arrange another kids' class soon!

Testing out the owl punch

Hi Everyone,

I was going to entertain (maybe bore would be a better description) you with a run down of the last few days have been like here, but maybe I'll summarise it for you:
Saturday = Craft Thyme - cold but very successful! Andrea and I had a fab day and met some wonderful people! But it was really cold!!!
Sunday = sleep in!!! till 10.15!!!! WOW!! bit of sunshine
Monday = 1st day of school hols for us in WA.... wet and cold!!... housework :(
Tuesday = day with Mum and took the girls to see about 10 piglets and 5 kangaroos that some long long long time family friends have at their place at the moment... The piglets were so funny running around playing, and snuffling for whatever they were looking for in the dirt - apparently earthworms are tasty...

Onto the real reason why you visit my blog... This is a birthday card I made last week and I'm fairly sure it was one of the first cards to find a new home....

Not bad for only using 1 stamp hey!! I also tracked some some thin cork to use in my owl punch... I made a stack of little owls all dressed up and at the moment, they have no place to go.... Watch out for them over the coming week :)

I also want to mention a charity auction one of my friends is arranging... Please check out the Bears of Hope Charity Auction - In Memory of Ruby x being co-ordinated by Pretty Little Things. I've donated a notebook and will be adding a few more by the wkend.

Well, that's it from me tonight here, I'm going to move one sleeping bub into her bed from the floor and the other from my bed into her own bed.... We are having fun and games with sleeping again at the moment (if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to add them into your comment & let me know!).

Hi Everyone,

I made this a few weeks ago and realised that I hadn't blogged (bragged) about it!

I spoiled myself with some birthday money last month and bought the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Sizzlit die! (Plus the birthday discount from Stampin' Up! just for being a demo was a great incentive to splurge!)

The jar I picked up at market last year or maybe the year before. All the lollipops have been decorated with a little pic and layered onto some scrapbooking paper or cardstock. I'm hoping it will be a hit with the young crafties at Craft Thyme Fair this Saturday.

Don't fall off your chair but yes I have had a chance to take part in this week's Inkspiration Colour Challenge #76, it's been a while! I also got to ink up my Choo Choo stamp set & co-ordinating wheel for the first time! It's only been sitting in my cupboard for a couple of weeks!
